So, after many months of waiting i have finally got my permanent resident papers through. I cant explain how delighted me and my family are with this as we absolutely love living here and genuinely call it our home now. When the club first asked me if i would be interested in applying for my residence many months ago i can actually say it was not something i had even considered. But as time went on and i had my first few meetings with immigration etc, it actually dawned on me that this was the place i was meant to be in. Everything made sense, from the way my kids have settled in so well at school to the many friends my wife has made in the local community. Of course all the stuff that has happened to me involving Toronto FC personally, i could never of dreamed about, but this a club that i am immensely proud to be involved with and hope to grow with for a long time to come. I have also got little bits and pieces going on off the field like my involvement with Mike Yack at ‘Fabu Marketing’ where we are building 1st class websites for pro-athletes in various sports. I am also now involved with the Thornhill Soccer club and overseeing their coaches & teams, this gives me great pleasure as i am really interested in seeing how we can develop youth soccer to an even greater level. And last of all i am looking forward to working with all the people at the Childhood Cancer Foundation-Candlelighters Canada. These guys are doing a fantastic job and have asked me to help out and try spread the awareness of what we can do to help. I will be doing my bit with various fundraisers and auctions to try and raise some much needed cash.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Also i have  to thank everyone at the club especially Earl Cochrane who has helped push this through, and lastly to Monica And Ralph at immigration who have worked really hard in putting all the paper work together.

    Great News.

I live in London Ontario, 1.5 hours down the road. Was in Toronto for the home opener, 1st game. I played in the 60’s on 2 high school squads, won the Ontario Championship with me on the bench! Paul from head office gave me 2 free tickets cause I mentioned on the Red Patch Boys forum that I’d never been to a game. Froze my butt off.

I have a pint at Scot’s Corner Pub a couple of times a week, always footy on the tube there. Was thinking that in the off season you could hook up with a UK beer (or Carlesberg if req’d), and have a promotion where you visit town, sell some stuff, and a buck a pint of what you pull goes to charity. Get out to the locals and see the guys who can’t make the trip to BMO!

Good Luck, last 2 games were right on!

PS I’m a retired firefighter so I got lots of time on me hands LOL

      Thanks John
I’d love to come out for an old english pint(during the off-season of course). I know the club are trying to sort out events where some players are going out to those further places where we have support. So hopefully we can have that pint sometime soon!

Congratulations on becoming a Permanent Resident - Next step citizenship???

When we moved here from England 13 years ago we felt exactly the same. Within 6 months, Canada felt like home.

And great game on Sunday! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations Danny! I always find it so amazing to have people from other parts of the world come for a short time and ultimately decide to stay. I think it’s awesome that you have found your home, and think it’s even better that your home is now here in Toronto. Keep up the incredible work.

  12. Well, what else is there to say ? Welcome aboard !

    Nice blog Danny.
As i speak with many friends, colleagues and relatives who travel and live abroad in recent years I hear nothing but praise for this country of ours. Good on ya.
And nice work on Saturday against KC.
You and Vitti are quickly becoming an item of concern for our opponents. One of the best performances by TFC this year and perhaps to date.
Hope you and your family have a great summer.
    Cheers, KD.

Congrats on the permanent resident status! Good to know you’re sticking around - Toronto is an awesome place to live, we’ve been here 13 years now after moving from the UK.
Thanks for supporting the Kick, Cut, Care fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer foundation too - Evan is getting his hair shaved to raise funds and has put together a team of his Thornhill soccer buddies!
Great games this past week - and an awesome goal!

    Danny,

I left England in 1980, and like many Brits that now call Canada home, I think you will find this country is an amazing place to raise a family. I still go back to Wolves every year but am always eager to get back to Toronto.

It was good meeting you on the recent flight back from KC. Continued success with the rest of your career, and know that your impact on pro soccer in this city has been immense.

    Best regards,
    Kevin Adams

  20. Alex says:

Congratulations, Danny. It’s a pleasure to have you stay with us in this great country, and I do hope that you will stay involved with TFC for many years to come. One day maybe even as head coach, or manager, of the club.
