Ok Guys, this is the time of year when we re-cap what happened this year. What was your favorite part and what were your best memories from our second season(good or bad). I have a few for consideration that might surprise you. (1) Opening game in Columbus, which was meant to be an away game but seemed more like a home fixture with the sea of red everywhere in the stadium. (2) Getting our 1st away win of the season at Mr Beckhams LA Galaxy which was a great team win. (3) The mid-season international call ups and how it effected the team. (4) The emergence of Ibby and being delighted for him when he scored his 1st goal against Chicago. (5) Although the result went against us, but the whole atmosphere on the night we played Montreal in the Canadian Cup was electric and a big credit to the fans. (6) All Star Game at BMO .The MLS wanted to bring their show piece to the best atmosphere in the league, and they got it. (7) When the chips were down, the boys stood together and pulled off a great win in Colorado with the ever impressive Chad Barrett scoring a wonderful free kick. (8) Chivas at home was a game that no one gave us any hope, we had 10 guys away on international duty and had to sign 3 new guys on the thursday prior to the game. The fans did their upmost to cheer us along and there was a slight hope just before half time that we could pull this off. But football can be a cruel game at certain times and we ended up shooting ourselves in the foot and losing 3-1. (9) The New York win was probably our best team performance of the year, just a pity that this game and the Dallas game came just a little bit too late.

So get posting in guys and let me know what you think. I am off to sunny England now to visit family for the festive period, so i would like to wish everyone a happy christmas and a fantastic new year.          Thanks Danny

Danny what exactly does a B license mean for a coach?

  2. Doug says:

I loved so much about this past year. Being a huge fan, it will always be a highlight having a home team to see on a weekly basis. But some other highlights would be:

    1) A successfull season. A definite and steady improvement by the club was what I hoped for and exactly what we got.

    2) Traveling with my fellow South Enders to Columbus was fantastic. It proved we were behind our team. To bad distance is an issue or I’m sure we would all be at every away game.

    3) Singing for Danny at 23:13 still fills my heart with joy

    4) Guevara and Rickets….. Two great signings. Each has added lots to the team. I hope they have long careers with us.

At the best in the New Year and I look forward to March and the start of another great season.

  3. Ryan S says:

    good:
    1. oh canada on opening day with all the scarves held up.
    2. 3 forward goals vs LA.
    3. dean ashton two goals in all star game.
    4. nice win vs chicago in finale.

    bad:
    1. how badly mls/tfc screwed up at the all star game with the national anthems. this lead to the booing of the american anthem, which in itself was a disgrace.
    2. not getting 4 wins combined vs montreal and vancouver. not even winning the CCL. just brutal.
    3. john carvers complaining all the time. he might be right, but you just don’t get any points if you are a constant whiner.

  4. matt says:

danny, do you like Underworld at all? im not much of a techno fan but my god, they really are something else.

    happy holidays, dude.

  5. Stencils says:

Some of my favorites from this year past are:

    1. The moment of silence for Brian Budd.
    2. Singing the American anthem in Chicago when it seemed like the home fans were too shy or too quiet about it (also watching Ibby put in his first goal).
    3. Seeing RR’s cross pitch runs after finally scoring his first two goals.
    4. Getting my keys back from BMO staff after accidentally dropping them into the stand foundation while tying the “Fortress” banner between 111 and 112.
    5. The home closer game where the boys showed us a great game and a win full of heart.
    6. Getting a season ticket for 2009!

Have a great holiday Danny and family!

  6. Kevin says:

The road trip to Columbus with a good friend and our kids started off the season in a great way for us. Then the last home against Chicago where our boys escorted the players onto BMO topped if off. I also really enjoyed the friendly against Independiente.

The second season promises hope that not too far off in the future, our beloved TFC will grow into a force to be reckoned with within the MLS

  7. A swirl of good moments, the Columbus trip at the start and the blazing run of Wynne in New York to break that game open (set up by a touch from Dichio ??) may have been the best of the end.
…but the best is yet to be…
Have a great holiday and may the New Year bring victories galore…

  8. and a happy new years to you and yours.

You know what would be great?
DD’s Top 10 tracks of the year.

  9. Brett Davis says:

    1) On my way to Italy for vacation on Sept 19th, waiting in the Airport… When all of a sudden Rohan Ricketts pops his way along with his ipod on. John Carver walks by and starts asked a billion questions… I saw a few other players in the distance, but my plane was boarding… Italy was great.
2)The set piece goals. - Amado Guevara’s bending free-kick goal. Chad Barretts Goal. I actually really like Roberts free kick goal, but mostly because (i cant remember who) someone was in the wall and created a hole for the shot to go through.
3)Carl Robinson scoring… if only he’d score more often, his celebration is classic. Not sure if he’s trying to fly, but he sure does look happy.
    4) Robinson and you (Dichio!) resigning for another year.
    5) DeRo Trade.
    6) All-Star Game
    7) First Home Game of the Season. Beckham really is that good, those crosses of his are unreal.
    8) Canadian Cup series of games. Those were meaningful games, and as a fan I could tell the players were just as disappointed in losing as we were.
    9) CSL player Titus, playing a meaningful game in the MLS. Well done!
    10) Did i mention Robinsons goal celebration yet? Either way it’s awesome!

Looking for some more great memories for 2009, Bring it on Danny!

    Thanks,

    Brett

  10. Mark in Ottawa says:

The hilite for me personally was finally getting to BMO field to join the other Red Patch Boys for a game. The atmosphere was fantastic and this year with a partial seasons ticket I will be back for a few games.

TFC wise the fast start was exciting as hell… but maybe raised fans expectations a little too quickly. I was happy to see you get back in Danny after your injury and I hope that is behind you now and you can enjoy a great season in 2009.

Happy holidays to everyone. Stay safe.

    Mark

  11. Jeremy Shuba says:

TFC comming to me in Vancouver. Pictures with Sutton and handshaking with Guevara. However, I missed not meeting you big guy. Hopefully this year you’ll be out in full force and we can hand it to the WhiteCraps.

  12. matt says:

The trip to columbus was great.
Some aquisitions like Ricketts, Guevara and Barrett among others.
Ibby is another bright spot on the team. Its up to you and Barrett to teach him well!
The road record stands out for me more then anything. This team is going in the write direction, but dropping points on the road killed us.

Merry christmas & happy new years Danny

    Matt
